Habitat announces the 2022 “Building a Community of Faith” Build

Posted on

This year the first build of Habitat for Humanity will be for Andrea Young and her son.  Andrea is a single mom who has gone back to school to earn a certificate in accounting.  She does bookkeeping for several small businesses in the Zionsville area.

Habitat bought a property big enough for all three of this year’s builds.  The Faith Build will be the first, at 1720 S.  East St. in Lebanon. As you’ve heard, material costs have sky rocketed even more than last year.  We estimate the cost of each build to be about $170,000 compared to about $135,000 last year.  We, at Christ Lutheran, raised $8,525 in support of the 2021 Faith Build, up from $4,010 in 2021.  We’re hoping we can get to $10,000 for this year.

The wall build will be on Saturday, May 21, at Central Christian Church (corner of SR32 and Indianapolis Ave) in Lebanon.  Work time will be from 10 – noon.  All ages are welcome (encouraged!!)  We’ll need about 20 adults to help erect the walls in the afternoon so please think about joining that effort.

We’re again partnering with Pilgrim Lutheran to provide workers, lunches and morning devotions.  Our assigned work is on Tuesday, July 12, Wednesday, July 13 and Friday, July 15 from 9 – 3.

Please contact John Burkhardt if you want to volunteer to help with the build, provide lunches or provide a devotion. We hope for 10 workers each day.

Below are the links to sign up for each day.

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County is very appreciative of the faithful and on-going support we’ve provided over the years.  I hope we can continue and even increase our participation.
